Emory Dance Company
The Emory Dance Company (EDC) is a professionally oriented student performance company that exposes students to the diverse choreographic approaches of faculty, student, and guest artists, as well as historical reconstructions. Students gain performance techniques, collaborative skills, and often contribute to the making of original choreography as they prepare for a fully produced dance concert. In addition, students gain experience in technical aspects of dance concert production.
Entrance into the company is by audition each semester. Residencies play a key role in the education of the Emory Dance Company. Guest artists like Urban Bush Women, Doug Varone, the José Limón Dance Company, Toronto Dance Theater, Abraham.in.Motion, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, David Dorfman Dance, David Neumann, and Monica Bill Barnes impart their perspectives through the work performed or created.
Student performers are investigating, through the body, political, social and relational aspects of our humanity.
