Prospective Students
Scheduling a Visit to the Emory Dance Program
Please contact the Dance Program office at least two to three weeks in advance of your visit by submitting the form below.
If you have specific questions about visiting, please put them in the note/questions section of the form or contact us by email: dance@emory.edu or phone: 404-727-7266.
Times to Visit
The best time to visit the Dance Program is while classes are in session. For Fall 2009, students can visit between August 31 and December 4, with the exception of Labor Day (September 7), fall break (October 12-13), and Thanksgiving break (November 25-27). Visits can only be scheduled Monday through Friday, not on weekends.
Summer visits
We do not offer dance technique classes during the summer. A meeting with a faculty member may be possible, depending on your visit dates. Please contact the Dance Program office at least two weeks in advance of your visit to inquire.
Visiting Classes
Prospective students are welcome to visit our dance technique classes (modern, jazz, or ballet) with advance notice. Please make sure to schedule your visit with the dance program office so the instructor can be notified, and so we can ensure that your visit date is a convenient time to visit the class.
Students can either observe or participate in a class. Students wanting to participate in a class must have the requisite skills for the level of class they wish to take.
If you plan to major or minor in dance, we recommend visiting a modern dance class because the program is modern-based. We encourage you to visit an upper level modern class (III or IV) if your schedule permits.
Please see our course schedules to help plan your class visit.
Meeting with a Faculty Member
Prospective students planning to major or minor in dance can request a meeting with one of our full-time faculty members (2-3 week advance notice required).
Campus Tours
Please contact the Emory Office of Undergraduate Admission to schedule your campus tour and information session: www.emory.edu/admissions. Tours can be scheduled on-line, or you can contact the Office of Admission by phone at: 404-727-6036.
Portfolios
Please note that the Dance Program does not review DVD/video portfolios, whether submitted to us or to the Office of Admission.
