Prospective Students

Scheduling a Visit to the Emory Dance Program

Please contact the Dance Program office at least one to two weeks in advance of your visit by submitting the form below.

If you have specific questions about visiting, please put them in the note/questions section of the form or contact program coordinator Anne Walker by email: dance@emory.edu or phone: 404-727-7266.

Times to Visit

The best time to visit the Dance Program is while classes are in session. For fall semester 2016, students can visit between September 1 and December 2, with the exception of Labor Day (September 5), fall break (October 10-11) and Thanksgiving break (November 23-25).

For spring semester 2017, students can visit between January 18 and April 21, with the exception of spring break (March 6-10).

Visits can only be scheduled Monday through Friday, not on weekends.

Summer visits
We do not offer dance technique classes during the summer. A meeting with a faculty member may be possible, depending on your visit dates. Please contact the Dance Program office at least one to two weeks in advance of your visit to inquire.

Visiting Classes

Prospective students are welcome to visit our dance technique classes (modern, jazz, or ballet) with advance notice. Please make sure to schedule your visit with the dance program office so the instructor can be notified, and so we can ensure that your visit date is a convenient time to visit the class.

Students can either observe or participate in a class. We encourage participation, although students must have the requisite skills for the level of class they wish to take.

If you plan to major or minor in dance, we recommend visiting a modern dance class because the program is modern-based. We encourage you to visit an upper level modern class (III or IV), or Modern II, if your schedule permits.

Please see our spring 2017 class schedule to help plan your class visit.

Meeting with a Faculty Member

Prospective students planning to major or minor in dance can request a meeting with one of our full-time faculty members (1-2 week advance notice requested).

Campus Tours

Please contact the Emory Office of Undergraduate Admission to schedule your campus tour and information session: www.emory.edu/admissions. Tours can be scheduled on-line, or you can contact the Office of Admission by phone at: 404-727-6036.

Portfolios

The admissions office asks that links to dance performances (on YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) be sent via email to admission@emory.edu. The email and written material must have the student's full name exactly as it is listed on their Common Application, birth date, and school name. If you submit via email, please copy Anna Leo (aleo@emory.edu), the admissions liaison for dance. You are also welcome to mail a DVD and written supplemental material to the Dance Program at the address below.
